Animation by Cowboy Bebop director Watanabe and his crew, with a decent Matrixy story.

Wholly bizarre, and not in a good way. I'm not a big believer in the "nonsense = art" school of filmmaking.

Ho hum

I'm not so hot on the Animatrix, but Matriculated, which is the last story, is brilliant. Basically about a group of humans who kidnap and then seduce AIs in order to convert them to their side. The mechanics of how this is done are intriguing. In the end it turns out to be a story about a sentient robot and how it somewhat tragically falls in love with humanity.

16 Eylul 07 - Animatrix

As with the rest of the Animatrix shorts, this is far superior to the two Matrix live-action sequels.

One of the few highlights from the disappointing "Animatrix" collection. It explores a bizarre, colorful, and idyllic dream world, all ending with the brutal, tragic events of reality. The artificial world is an "escape", but in the end, becomes a place of horror. Sure, the exploration of the dream becomes tiresome and overdone halfway through, and the concept could have used more fleshing out, but it's a terrific idea with a great twist at the end.

Interesting Matrix short that sadly doesn't really go anywhere but is enjoyable none-the-less.

Did the Animatrix really need to be broken up into all ten(?) segments?

Some cool animation, but otherwise not all that interesting.
