Summary: In Paris in the near future. Aging thieves Marc and Hans owe money to a tough American woman who gives them two weeks to pay. They scheme to steal and sell a new serum for a disease that's killing lovers, but they need someone with quick steady hands. They recruit Alex, a disaffected youth who's breaking up with Lise, his 16-year-old girlfriend. In the few days before the theft, Alex becomes enchanted with Anna, Marc's young mistress. They talk, they play, they sing, but she's in love with Marc. (imdb)
I wanted to love this, but I found the way the main character acted if not ridiculous then certainly a deterrent to me investing myself in him. And though I enjoyed the playfulness of the film, at times it seemed to slip from playfulness into sillyness (the scene where he flips the car over...~cringe~). This all said, though the film didn't work for me as a whole there are some incredible scenes and the film looks great.

The attention to detail and the insightful romantic themes of Truffaut, the poetic grandiosity of Resnais, and the freewheeling, "pure cinema" spirit of Godard. It adds up to something touching, joyous yet melancholy, beautifully done with interesting cinematic techniques and great splashes of color. And it's wrapped around an intriguing crime story (shades of Melville and Dassin). Among a series of terrific scenes, the "Modern Love" sequence is unforgettable.
The style is over the top from the first to the last scene. It's a 114 minutes videoclip, if you ask me. Well, Juliette Binoche is always charming, at least.
It seeks to emulate the Nouvelle Vague in a lot of ways. It fails in most. The most spectacular failure is the Modern Love sequence which was of course the most hyped. Regardless, a good movie and a beautiful young Delpy.
