Excellent Performance by Hugh Laurie. Not so much by Jolie Richardson. First time I'd ever seen Tom Hollander, (as Ewan Proclaimer, great character name) and he is now a must-see actor for me. Laurie makes the most of his scenes, and does a killer piano composition, but the movie doesn't seem to flow, it's a series of vignettes, some better than others.
Sam (Hugh Laurie) and Lucy (Joely Richardson) desperately want a baby. Whenever they get the opportunity they try, even if it means Sam leaving meetings at the BBC. Sam is an executive who wants to be a script writer, when he comes up with the idea of writing about his and his wife's experiences at wanting a child, but when he starts reading her secret diaries, disaster is just around the corner.
