Million Dollar Baby may not quite achieve excellence but it's a movie that will stay with you long after it ends.

Well done, but very formulaic and honestly quite boring. Also, while I love Eastwood in Leone's westerns and Unforgiven, I don't particularly like his acting in this. Morgan Freeman's character seemed rather superfluous, but of course it's the always dependable Morgan Freeman so it's still nice just to have him there.

While the story appears to be simple, to cheesy while aiming directly at emotions, it is exquisitely well told; and Clint shows once again that he rues the world.

Most of the acting is great, although not Eastwood's or Freeman's best performance. Swank stands out in a very hard role but the movie itself is a real downer. I will admit I learned more about boxing in this film than I have watching a bunch of other films. Sadly once the boxing ends in the movie we are stuck with a sad sack hospital drama that aims to make you feel really bad and it does. They attempt one final thing at the end to bring you some hope but then it's snatched away.
