The IMF team easily out-acts and out-characters Tom Cruise, but that's no surprise. I could have done without the sappy epilogue scene (Really Criticker? "Starrring" Ving Rames?) But everything up to that was a great rollercoaster ride; as long as you don't think too hard about the lack of plot or question why that blonde chick was supposed to be such a great assassin.

There's one reason to watch this: The sphincter tightening action sequences. The plot is standard action movie nonsense, but the team is really likable (Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner have tons of fun with their roles) to ensure you continue to care when Brad Bird gets to his masterfully constructed, unpredictable and supremely intense action.

There are some really good action scenes in this film. The cast has a lot of fun with their roles and it is nice to see Simon Pegg have an expanded role in this movie. Brad Bird does a great job making this franchise exciting again.

Typical MI film honestly. You never know what's going on, the logic never makes sense, shitload of action and explosions, and Cruise being Cruise. The fight scene with Cruise and the villain at the end was the most unbelievable scene in a movie in 2011. Pretty mediocre and forgettable, also too long.

Bird's toss-ups to the fans don't go unnoticed, even if there are a number of plot holes, cliches, and stereotypes abound (even Nyqvist couldn't pull himself out of the B level James Bondian villain funk). The action and cinematography are stellar, it's more the melodrama and corn I could do without.

It's not bad, but unfortunately it's not good either. Visually it is nice, but I do believe paying more than 100$ for a script would be beneficial.

The plot/script really bugged me in this one. I know this is an action/thriller so plot will always play second fiddle but its derivative nature got in the way of my enjoyment this time. Still, the stunts were thrilling and original so it's definitely worth a watch.

Possesses an interesting techno-thriller visual style and a self assured sense of what it is (not JAMES BOND with iphones!) it feels more like a live action cartoon most of the time. I guess what makes it slightly better than similar films is that it knows when to insert comedy amidst the usual action. Other than that there's nothing definitive about this film or franchise aside from Tom Cruise alternating his wardrobe from fashionable silk suits to action hero chic bare chest.

When it was done I didn't demand my time or money back. I guess you shouldn't expect consistent plot or good story but I was still disappointed. I was told it was good because Cruise gets beat up but that wasn't enough to make a good movie. It is big screen action movie but I am going to forget that movie before I forget the wasted time and money

First movie I've watched in 2012, and it's about as entertained as I've ever been by an action film. Slick visuals, neat action sequences and a completely over the top 'real world' universe that I found pretty easy to accept and get into. Fun flick.

I was absolutely blown away by Brad Bird's first live-action feature film. Perhaps the IMAX had something to do with it, but you can really tell this is the same man who directed the great Pixar film The Incredibles. I can't wait to own this on blu-ray and relive that sandstorm scene after being on the side of a 130-story building in Dubai. If only there was a stronger villain to care about, but this did exactly what an action film is supposed to do.

Passably entertaining, but 30+ min. too long and gets worse the longer it goes. Its campiness is too self-conscious and, until its later absence reveals the otherwise dullness, seems to undermine the suspense. The chick fight is lame, villains are uninteresting, and Holloway is unconvincing, as is the-underutilized-Renner's backstory. With gadgets as unreal as ever, the "realistic" apprehension toward crazy stunts is silly. Finally, the ending feels very out of place, being much too sentimental.

It attempts some hamfisted political one-liners, but like its characters' appearances, it's purely utilitarian. It says what sounds good in the scene without any kind of political, or even ethical, throughput. It might as well have abandoned the Mission: Impossible callbacks entirely, they only creep up in moments of bizarre anachronism, and certainly don't speak toward the changing nature of identity in any meaningful way, as in the first M:I entry. Tom Cruise looks like Michael Landon.

The best of the franchise this far. Brad Bird is very good at directing an action sequence, the problem is that the plot is pretty much just an excuse to get to the next one. But I guess that's all action movies. The best scene is the one where he is scaling the building. The film isn't very emotional, but I like that. I hate action movies that try and force in a emotional subplot. Tom Cruise is awesome as usual, and Simon Pegg's comic relief works. Jeremy Renner did a good job too.

Inventively executed with one sole objective: to dazzle us with everything from crazy set pieces to neat little details (Burj Khalifa/a hallway deception/Cruise's alternative use of a car). And bedazzled I was. Putting any worries about his making the transition from animation to shame, Bird directs what is probably the best action flick since 'M:i:III' and he keeps the pace impossibly high, up until an off-key epilogue. One more small complaint: Paula P is no Maggie Q. But I love Pegg as Benji.
