Mockery

More Lon Chaney fodder that's only worth the footnote in the history book that most people encounter, rather than an actual viewing. There's no doubt that there is some real worth while stuff to see from his cannon, but this is not it.

Mockery (1927) is not an essential Lon Chaney film. From a creative perspective it's among Danish director Benjamin Christensen least successful film available as well. Lon Chaney plays a Russian fool with a good heart saving a Countess from rebels. Sadly he remains a fool to the end, and not in a good way. Script problems aside, Chaney puts on another good effort and the magnetism Barbara Bedford is heavily present, making one feel like one is getting something out of Mockery (1927).
