He's crude. He's abrasive. He's a schmuck. But Buddy Young is great. Billy Crystal pulls no punches with this great story of the rise and fall of Vaudvillian era comic. Crystal isn't trying to make Buddy funny, he's trying to make him interesting and abrasive. David Paymer is well cast as Buddy's foil. A must for the Billy Crystal fan, a good movie for everyone else.

Billy Crystal obviously wishes he was born 50 years earlier. I wish he had been born 150 years earlier, so he wouldn't have ever been televised.
