Summary: Haridas (Mammootty), an ex-teacher, clears IAS & becomes the District Collector of Calicut, but faces trials & tribulations from day one. When Haridas had to kick out his younger brother Sudhakaran (Rahman) for misusing his position as a Collector, Sudhakaran steps into politics to compete with Haridas. In a bid to overtake Haridas, Sudhakaran resorts to dirty games which end up in communal riots in the coastal town of Beypore, which pits him against Haridas, who desperately tries to stop him.
