Absurd, surreal, hilarious. More conceptually interesting than satirically poignant, but for those of you searching for "something else" this is most likely "it".

Bill Plympton animated feature about an astronaut who returns to earth after being stranded in space for 20 years, bringing along some nasty alien creatures with him. Typical of Plympton, it's full of nudity, sex and extreme violence while taking swipes at big business, religion, advertising, the military, etc along the way. Surreal stuff, there's a scene where Jesus plays a bass solo with his beard. OK then.

Bill Plympton had more fun doing this than it is to watch. Mutant Aliens is too much in love with its own animatic ideas to actually invest in being a good movie.
