Summary: Parvez is a Pakistani cab driver in a Northern English town who drives around a prostitute Bettina and her colleagues and makes just enough money to feed his wife Minoo and son Farid. One of Bettina's client, German businessman Schitz, asks Parvez to organize a sex party, and at the same time Farid, who under the influence of local Pakistani community becomes an Islamic fundamentalist, and his friends decide to morally clean up their town. Main detraction is the hard to understand main character, who even has some funny lines. The story appeals by relying on a simplistic character positive role model, and the somewhat disturbing quality of the world & other characters he is emerged in. I was pleasantly surprised at being drawn in & entertained by what appears unconventional and is really a quite ordinary hollywood love story.

An immigrant family in England is torn apart by a strange generational conflict as father is drawn to liberalism and promiscuity while son becomes a radical Islamist. The film's fast pace and lightheartedness are at the same time its best and its worst qualities: It could have been deeper and more serious but that might have cost it its valuable humor. In any case a very good movie with good acting by Om Puri.
