Hilarious concept, really well executed. A couple scenes had me laughing harder than I have in awhile. It loses steam, as seemed inevitable, but remains fun to watch throughout.

Derrick Comedy is awesome and thus so was their movie. Sure it could have been better but if they had proper funding and crew combined with their comedy chops it also may have lost some of the charm to it. Hopefully they will get some big backers for their next project.

About what you'd expect from a debut film by a group of comics known for internet shorts: it has its lulls, as the boys struggle in spots to stretch the concept out to feature length. But when it hits, my god is it ever funny. Glover steals the show of course, but it's set up to be his movie to steal. That he also supplies the soundtrack is just a bonus. It's a shame Pierson and Dierkes haven't done much since though, as they're both funny as well. UCB's Matt Walsh is hilarious in a bit role.

A handful of gut-busting moments can't make up for the extreme unevenness of Mystery Team. It never shakes the feeling that it's make by a comedy sketch troupe, which is mainly due to sketch-style acting that the 3 leads give.

Glover's energy makes this. Dierkes' Hall-of-Shame (non-)acting constantly threatens to obliterate the film. Uneven, it is true - but worthwhile for some fresh craziness much needed in American (live-action) comedy.

I am a huge Donald Glover, Childish Gambino, Community, Derrick Comedy fan, so although this movie wasn't "good", Donald had a lot of screentime doing what he does. His stand up and some sketches are much more funny, and he is a much better actor on Community, but I still really enjoyed this, even if only for Donald.

Its a sad world we live in that Mystery Team went direct to video while Miss March gets a theatrical release. The sketch comedy take on teen mystery solving hijinks works surprisingly well thanks to committed performances and a script that doesn't lazily go for gross out humor more than once or twice. Some of the comedy styles seem timed better for sketches than film and a lot of the sight gags just fall flat, but its still better than most of the stuff that makes it to theaters.

I went into this film completely blind, as I had never heard of Derrick Comedy, and I can assure you I was very impressed. Not every single joke is dynamite hilarity and some do fall flat. However a lot of them are downright hilarious. If the thought of The Hardy Boys investigating gritty crimes like on CSI appeals to you then this will certainly entertain. Sure some of the acting is spotty in places but this is still well worth seeing.

I was already familiar with Derrick Comedy, and was somewhat skeptical of the concept. They have plenty of funny sketches, but I didn't think they could pull off a movie. I was wrong. Mystery Team is by no means perfect, but it has some solid laughs and some homages to their skits (and also some great cameos)

When I was kid, I enjoyed (now I find them lame) teen adventure/crime films like Beethoven, Home Alone. Those films have stupid presentation of villains and one or more kids who bust them somehow. Mystery team is reverse; main characters are pathetic and bad guys are proper thus everything works like satire about those films I mentioned before. Overall is fun to watch but there are few actors who should find another profession. Also bad guys are badly devolped as characters.

A funny, clever riff on Encyclopedia Brown. There's a definite lo-fi, do-it-yourself grunge to the filmmaking, but if you're a fan of Derrick Comedy you'll have no problem with it, and they've thankfully put their most talented member, Donald Glover, front and center. Derrick definitely deserve studio backing and a bigger budget for their next project.

'Mystery Team' does what 'Step Brothers' tried to do right. The Mystery Team's arrested development is normal, but only to the three of them. Everyone around them treats them like social pariahs, which makes their need to solve a case all the more important. The villains in the film seem to love having the Mystery Team on their tail, at least the adult ones, as it buys them time from the cops. It makes sense. Though some of the jokes don't work, some had me rolling. I was quoting this for days.

My. God. Rented this based on Glover's work on "Community" and couldn't believe that the same guy could possibly write for both. While there were slight traces of Glover's slightly off-kilter brand of humor found here, the material lacked in charm and was overly coarse for no real reason (although, "Oh fuck, it's the Mystery Team!" really got me). It's like they came up with a great premise and decided that the hard work was over. I'd still give Glover a second chance but man, this was not good.

It's very much a low-budget indie, but there's a surprising amount og good feeling and genuine humour here. The three leads (plus the romantic interest) all turn in great comedic performances, with Donald Gover still managing to stand out as the lead. Yes, it's ridiculous at times, but it's nothing if not fun.

It's great to see Internet-grown producers actually making it into feature films. This film was very Derrick (if you're hip to my lingo) and a good laugh. A little too gross-out at points, really didn't add to the experience as I'm not the type to point at the TV and yell "AWW BRO, THAT SHIT IS FUCKED UP!" and then crush a beer can on my head. Still, fantastic indie flick that is in no way 'indie'.

Surprisingly well filmed for such a low-budget movie. Glover is the obvious star here (as he was when him, Pierson and Dierkes were working as "DerrickComedy") and his parts are certainly the funniest. There's a lot of humour in this movie and, with two better actors to back up Glover, it could have been hilarious.
