A myriad of fascinating themes, too many to list but with a 6 hour running time, it's able to make it work. Wiseman's voyeuristic style works perfectly, giving me a sense of detachment (it doesn't help when most patients and their families are never referred to by name) which helps it from becoming depressing, but rather makes it an arduous examination of the moral and ethical implications of passive euthanasia, which is far more interesting in my mind.
