Summary: The Evangelion saga from TV is artfully recounted, with some additional scenes, in part one see: "Shin Seiki Evangelion" (1995) Part two starts immediately afterward, where the NERV organization has outlived its usefulness. The shadowy covenant of SEELE launches an all-out commando assault against the ill-defended headquarters. Asuka, semi-comatose, is placed in her EVA for safety, while Misato and company struggle to find Shinji and Rei before they're assasinated by SEELE's forces. (imdb)

A recap of the TV show and primer for End of Evangelion, essentially. Skip it unless you've seen the show and you want a more compact refresher.

Condensing a 26 episode series into an hour seems impossible, but this has several points in its favor. The editing gives an equal share of battles/character detail to succinctly satisfy, and having watched the series many times over , the filler parts have started to wear on me; this seems a better choice for a recap. I see no problems in my view, but if you recently watched the series you could skip it and move on to the actual wrap-up film. I'm honestly amazed at how well this came together.

Is basically just a recap of the series, setting the stage for The End of Evangelion as the alternate and better funded ending. Not worth much.

Fun pop remix. A 6/10 as part of the series. Don't ask me to review it as a movie.

Basically a primer for the much more analytical and provocative sequel, 'End of Evangelion,' which is really the film worth seeing for fans and those looking for a little more explanation of the series' ending. This one is forgettable compared to the TV episodes.

If you've seen the series, especially the "Director's Cut", then you won't find anything new here. However, it's still enjoyable to see the series condensed like this, especially if you're looking to re-enjoy it after some time away.

Adds some new material to the story, but in general it's a bit of a rip-off for the fans, especially with the cliffhanger ending. End of Evangelion is an infinitely preferable follow-up if you've watched the series, and includes everything from this film except the prologue (in which you see the discovery of Adam).

Nothing much to see here. "Death & Rebirth" merely sets the stage for the phenomenal film that follows it. If you've already seen the series there's not a point in watching it, but it deserves a decent score for at least being competently made.

Death was boring as hell considering I'd just finished the series anyway. Was a re-cap really needed? Rebirth was much better, but not enough to make up for the first half of the movie.

Love it or hate it, Evangelion's first film is mostly just a retelling of the TV series, even using the same footage. Though it ends with a preview of the End of Evangelion movie, we're mostly treading on familiar ground here. However, I thought it was creatively put together, serves as a good refresher for the second film if its been a while since you watched the series. Much like EoE, you'll probably only like this if you like anime, so ignore it otherwise.
