McQueen is very good in this Western that handles the revenge theme--except for the very end--in true Jacobean style. Malden is excellent as the baddest of the three bad guys.

i think this is highly neglected, McQueen was great with interesting cool young man that is well designed. This is maybe the most absorbing adventure film as well.

McQueen may act like he's in a high school play, but at least Karl Malden is enjoyably sleazy. Questionable quality in places (some distractingly bad lighting in a couple scenes), but I have to give it credit for trying to bend one of the least likely genres into addressing the civil rights movement.
