With a use of artifice to some extent reminiscent of Syberberg, an abstract painterliness and use of juxtaposing music to some extent reminiscent of Lynch, and a look to the sets that somehow reminded me of "Forbidden Planet," this expressionistic commentary on relations (both generational and race) is intermittently effective but not wholly satisfying. Perhaps a certain smugness seems to hang about it, but this may be a perception rather than any kind of reality to do with the filmmaker.
A dark and memorable short about the relationship between relatives set in an abstract environment where sound and image are played with for exceptionally striking effect. This is absolutely recommended if you can find it.
Race and gender play no small role in this visually striking short, but it's the generational commentary and subtle depiction of familial ties that make it a moving experience.
