The clinical cruelty and creepiness of Joan Crawford's selfish antagonist seems virtually titanic within the realm of Steven Spielberg's auspicious contribution to the post-Twilight Zone Night Gallery; a major triumph within a perhaps minor success. A picture of moral transgression and the resulting damnation, Eyes proves first disconcerting, and then -- when shards of glass scatter before a dispassionate portrait -- unexpectedly artful.

Pretty edgy stuff for the time but not terribly great writing. "Eyes" is the highlight, made especially terrifying because staring at Joan Crawford for 30 minutes is gonna be creepy no matter what.

Serling's work is typically solid and engaging, but due in part to its sheer volume, rarely anything remarkable or brilliant. It's also a step down from "The Twilight Zone", as none of the stories have any larger, over-arching point to make, and the acting is inferior. There is a decent mix of scares and solid story-telling here, with (sadly) the first story being the highlight, and the next couple being weaker. Nice visual style and acting in Spielberg's directorial debut "Eyes", though.

Old teleproductions are often highly dated, but this cast and Serling's usual strong writing put this one over

all of the camera work is very amateurish, acting for the most part is pretty mediocre accept for roddy mcdowall and ossie davis. i even thought that rod serling made one of his worst efforts as well
