Summary: When a young girl, Devi (Suchitra), gets killed during a train journey from Trivandrum to Madras, on board the No: 20 Madras Mail train, three young men - Tony Kurishinkal (Mohanlal), Hitchcock Kanjikuzhi (Manian Pillai Raju) & Kumbalam Hari (Jagadish) - suspected of murder, go on the run from the Police, & also tries to find the real murderer. They seeks help from & gets it from movie star Mammootty (Mammootty), who also happened to be a traveler on the train, the night the girl was killed. (by iceblox)

By 1990, both Mammootty & Mohanlal had become Superstars of Malayalam cinema, and it was also a while before they had acted together (although there were dozens of movies they had starred together when both were upcoming). Hence, a reunion of theirs in 'No: 20 Madras Mail', was much touted & the film does serve as a good platform for both of them together.
