I love the book, I remember reading it first at school years ago, and have loved it ever since. Therefore this film always had alot to live up to. Its good, and the two leads are excellent, but for me it can't compete with Steinbeck at his best. A solid adaptation, but nothing more.

Good and faithful adaptation to a better book. Sinise and Malkovich do a great job of demonstrating the chemistry between the leads that made the book such an endearing classic. This may deserve a higher rating, but it'll need a more recent viewing to confirm.
