An underseen gem, and, after Kind Hearts and Coronets, probably the funniest British movie of the 40s. The four principles are all terrific, but Beatrice Lillie and Clive Brook deserve special mention. I can't believe it hasn't been remade.

This film of Frederick Lonsdale's play is one of my favorite movies of all time, full of unforgettable small pleasures. Who can forget Bea Lillie's perfect delivery of her famous line, "You will find the dinghy by the jetty."?
