Perhaps to compensate for no Sean Connery and a tragic ending, the producers of this sixth Bond opus shower largesse upon us in the shape of no fewer than four protracted spectacular climaxes. Splendid stuff, but too much of it, and the lack of a happy centre does show.

Other than Casino Royale, easily the most mature James Bond film. Bond, in a way that no other film (except the aforementioned Casino Royale) is characterized with depth and complexity, In this film, Bond is not simply 007, he is a human, which is always a breath of fresh air in an action film. Of course, the action is handled very well, especially in the last 30 minutes, but it is the depth that truly makes the movie. Too bad that George Lazenby is easily the weakest Bond to date.

The original tag-line for this film was 'Far up, Far out, Far more' Under-rated as a film and as a bond, George Lazenby makes his one and only appearance in a classic thriller. The more human and vulnerable side (such as it is) of Bond is seen during this outing which could be part of its problem. Although not critically aclaimed Lazenby plays well against theTelly Savalas Blofeld. A good film but not the type of Bond people wanted.

An interesting direction for the Bond character in this underrated flick. Lazenby is good, though it takes a while to buy into him as Bond. OHMSS could have been great if it was trimmed by about half an hour.
