Summary: The 1972 Munich Olympics were interrupted by Palestinian terrorists taking Israeli athletes hostage. Besides footage taken at the time, we see interviews with the surviving terrorist, Jamal Al Gashey, and various officials detailing exactly how the police, lacking an anti-terrorist squad and turning down help from the Israelis, botched the operation. Gripping crystallisation of the events surrounding the tragedy that was the '72 Munich Olympics. Strongly recommended.

A tricky subject, the whole I/P situation, and this documentary manages to as unbiased as possible. I mean, of course what the terrorists did was horrible, but considering what the Israelis have been doing to them for so long, and their small numbers, it's easy to understand why they will go to such radical heights to accomplish their goals, and this documentary at least tries to get you to look at that way, as opposed to being anti-Palestinian, which with a few false moves, it could have been.

A good documentary on some distressing subject matter. I didn't know much about these events before seeing this other than that they had happened so it kept my interest.

Gripping in documentary terms, but blunted by its sworn allegiance to all things Israeli. (Douglas' narration should have been a giveaway.) Dramatics aside, this movie fails to hit on the real dimensions of the conflict overall, as well as inherent in the hostage situation.

Very well done (not to mention well researched) documentary that passes a big test of mine in that it made me FEEL something. It's hard not to get emotional or feel some kind of astonishment, or even anger, at how badly the hostage situation at the '72 summer games in Munich was botched by the German authorities. The revelation that they actually hand delivered the surviving terrorists back to the Middle East is one of the all-time WTF moments. How is this not a bigger story than it is?

Wow, this was amazing! I was in a perpetual state of shock throughout the entire thing. I can't imagine a bigger case of incompetence than what the German authorities exhibited throughout the hostage ordeal. Absolutely mind-boggling and unreal. I can't even put it into words. I didn't know much or anything about the event before seeing this, which is insane. This documentary is really effective - I was drained afterwards and I will be thinking about this one for a long time.
