Summary: Norman McLaren attempts to give the opening speech for the first Montreal International Film Festival, but his microphone won't cooperate. (imdb)
McLaren remakes _A Chairy Tale_, only this time starring himself. How very tenanty. Not that witty or clever. The Canadian obsession with being multicultural (English *and* French, and, often, as many other languages as possible) is also getting old. One wonders how "multicultural" Canada would be fond of being if their next door neighbor was a superpower other than the United States, and how long it would remain an independent country
This is pretty much exactly the same schtick McLaren pulled a few years earlier in A Chairy Tale. Some funny Chaplin/Keaton style comedy, but I would have been more entertained if I hadn't felt like I'd already seen it.
