Some funny parts but not really that bad

I watched this because of a .gif I saw.

Very charming and offers plenty of funnies.

A very lovable cast and great performance from Paul Rudd, however the story suffers from going anywhere.

Needed more Paul Rudd, less everything else.

our idiot brother is a movie that is exactly what it's main character and namesake is. a feel good, well meaning, blunder. it's not bad, it's not particularly good, and it's forgettable. it has the added benefit of being one of those uniquely forgettable movies that you assume was alright just because you can't remember it. i also have to add, when the main character cracks and yells at his family, it was really satisfying to see him do what i wanted to for a half hour.

It's an affective, sweet piece of family drama, that depends mostly on its great cast to work -- Rudd is at his best as this nice hippie bro that just talks too much and ruins (or changes) the lives of his three sisters. Guess it should be funnier and have a better finale, but there is plenty of good feelings here anyway.

Lovely little movie. Everyone is top notch, great dialogue, believable relationships, and a gooey moral center in Paul Rudd.

My Bitch Sisters, really. The movie isn't as good as it could be, if only because every character other than Rudd is a vapid, irritating bore. But Rudd is really terrific, and there are a handful of strong scenes: Rudd and Adam Scott critiquing women in a cafe is especially hilarious. Other highlights include: everything with the dog, TJ Miller, and Rudd's semi-climactic nice-guy blow-up. Rarely has an angry profanity-laced rant felt more cathartic in a dumb comedy such as this. Wonderful cast.

pretty blase about this one. it wasnt terrible but there really wasnt much good about it either. The main character was likeable andstupid so that made it mildly funny but there wasnt anything great about it.

Strong cast but just not very funny.

Instantly forgettable.

Extends sympathy to a kind-hearted, naive dude who just wants to chill and help out. That he's born into this modern, neurotic, business-oriented world is just bad luck. Paul Rudd gets some great anti-bourgeois moments out of these sitcom outlines.

Sorry, but I have to say this: our idiot movie.

Rudd scores the majority of the laughs, and his character is quite loveable. I just wish the movie was more about him and less about his annoying sisters.

Way too long, and really on a whole just too self-serious for what it actually is (which is essentially a low-bro comedy about a naive hippie and not the insightful drama the screenplay somehow sometimes sort of thinks it is). Oh, and i've gotta say at this point Zooey Deschanel has gone from incredibly charming to really fucking annoying...

Paul Rudd is super funny as Ned. His hippy hairdo and crocs attitude make the whole package. So naive and happy about how things are going while his sisters are wound up tight about their own lives. A fun film.

Ending felt a bit rushed... to bad because it could have been beter...

This film rejoices in Rudd's classical Pollyanna, and what it lacks in depth and character development it makes up for with heart. Unfortunately heart alone is a somewhat vacuous proposition, and though I was infected by the films virulant emotions they faded quickly as I left the theatre, leaving me with only questions for the giggling fool who experienced this film in my place. So, enjoyable but hardly enlightening.

There's no reason this couldn't have been better: the cast (esp. Rudd) is plenty likable & the narrative structure is perfect 4 a comedy w/ only a couple of contrived scenes. Unfortunately it's lacking it's most essential ingredient as it's not particularly funny. There are a few laughs here & there, but the hit-miss ratio is pretty lousy & given how well the rest of the machine works it's unfortunate that they didn't spend more time refining the humor.

I'm on record saying that we should all be so lucky to live our lives like Ned. He's such an instantly-loveable character, the movie just floats along with such fluidity simply based on him being on screen. It has all the right elements for this type of movie - the trio of sisters, the ex-girlfriend, the dog, the nephew - with each element really complimenting the others. I love the casting all around, and this was just one of those movies that gives you the warm fuzzies. Yup. The warm fuzzies.

not haute theatre, but just a nice feel good flick

This is one of the most bizarre movies I've ever watched. Everything is played with the tone and characterization of a comedy, but the jokes or anything funny at all is completely absent half the time and many of the scenes are dead serious or even slightly depressing. Its like watching a film written and directed by a severely bipolar person.
