Summary: Alex, a sad-eyed mournful man, goes into psychotherapy: he discloses he's a hit man. He also tells the doctor, after a few sessions, that he's attracted to a young woman he's met in the waiting room. She's Sarah, 23, quick, edgy, and perhaps attracted to him as well. But he's married, the dutiful father of a young precocious boy, so Sarah brushes him off. In flashbacks we see him get his start as a killer, at his father's prompting: it's the family business. Has some decent moments, but ultimately I just couldn't buy Macy as a hitman. The whole scenario - a suburban father-and-son contract-killing business - just felt contrived and hard to believe in. None of the characters, particularly the father (Sutherland), were developed enough and I had no idea what their motivations were. Why was the shrink on the hitlist? Not explained. Why was Campbell in therapy? Not explained. Some bad over-acting, too, and the kid was very annoying.

The whole movie I strugled to depict William Macy as hit man. But I guess that was the point, he was forced to be that, he wasn't that realy. But I strugled, and I don't like that so -10 points for the movie ;)

Neve plays the usual, & that works, & the picture coasts along nicely at a leisurely pace that never quite allows you to be able to leave with out missing something. About time something was edited decently. The scenes are good & well invested. The overall story, however, never quite cracks the cute little movie feel & so makes the difficulties of the characters little more than amusing trifles. Not much for panic, just a simple little fun.

The characters, relationships and story come across as significantly underdeveloped. Such an unusual family needs a more thorough exposition than a couple of short flashbacks. And individual character motivations are at times hard to believe in the context of all that is happening in this film.
