I may be in the minority, but I found this the weakest film of the (so-far) trilogy. Too many of the same tricks from the last two which got old, and they threw together this bizarre background plot that makes no sense without even more context from a fourth film (or is the fourth making sense too much to hope for? we'll see, maybe.)

It was generally okay until it suddenly ended with some thrown together final scenes to establish some form of "plot". These need to stop before this series in the same vein as the Saw franchise..

Meh...

I actually found this movie to be a lot of fun, it shares most of the problems of its predecessors but makes up for it with frequent jump scares that make you jump out of your seat and then laugh your head off in a style similar to that off Sam Raimi. Its stupid fun but it knows it and so doesn't pretend to be anything else, if you're with friends and looking to have a laugh, yeah why not give this a go. As long as your not expecting to do anything other than jump a lot you'll probably enjoy it

Better then the second, but still extremely boring and bad. It feels like a really bad parody of the first, which was actually somewhat decent. The people in this are just annoying. The main problem with these movies is they take at least 30 minutes of nothing to build it up. We need to know just how normal these people are. Then after nothing, we get 30 minutes of barely anything. Then to top it off, 30 minutes of what now is very generic jump scares, and gimmicks that were better in the first.

10 minutes in... door slams. 20 minutes in... furniture moves, door slams. 30 minutes in... door slams, blinders close. This was better when it was called Poltergeist. The pot smoking scene is completely ripped off from that as well. The bitchy menopausal mother in law is a witch!! OY VEY!

This was a good sequel to two great Horror films, and while I feel like it's been the weakest in the series it still managed to scare me! Definitely made the right choice by going back to Katie & Kristi's childhood, and we found out so much more about why they have both been possessed. Some of the cheap thrills are a tad lame, and the ending felt a little messy, but overall its a respectable sequel that I still enjoyed and fans of the first two won't be disappointed.

Starts very slow like part 1, but the paranormal activity scenes are great and scary like in part 1. Great to have a killer imaginary friend named Toby (love the name). Also well done with the twist in the end! This is also the only part with some (background)story :D. Also well done with the misleading trailer!!!!

Infuriatingly harebrained. They're not even trying anymore. Alternates between deadlly dull and off-puttingly, hysterically over-the-top, with no genuine scares to speak of and a surprising level of rank incompetence on display. Plus, it flat-out cheats, whipping up an over-elaborate, nonsensical backstory for the whole series that leaves you with way more questions than answers. The worst horror sequel to come down the pike in some time. Skip it.

Probably would have been about as good as the second if it wasn't for the godawful ending and stupid twist. It's hard to deny that the formula is over staying its welcome a bit, but at the same time... at least the film makers get that sometimes it's what doesn't happen that's scary. That's pretty much the premise of these movies. Still, this can be tense, and enjoyable, and scary, and I loved the first one. Just please, don't make anymore. It's unnecessary.

It's hard to compare this one to the others in the series. The first half is more of the same, and its up to par. The second half is different, yet still very good. Yet for some reason I can't put my finger on, it seems like this one didn't quite deliver as many scares as it could have.

Haven't seen the second one, but I liked this one a lot more than the 1st. Not really all that scary except the last couple scenes that are pretty tense. Sadly, it comes to an abrupt end as soon as it started getting good. Go see it in theaters with a fun group of people and have a good time watching em scream.

Gee whiz, that footage from 1988 sure did look like it was filmed in 2011. As with the second film the first hour is drab, uninspired, cliched bullshit (although the final kitchen scene at the first house was well done) except this actually climaxes with scenes that are atmospheric and tense...and then ruined by a preposterous nonsensical twist and "shock" ending. Congratulations directors, you made a marginally better film than one of the worst sequels of all time.

Paranormal Activity 3 is the worst film I've ever seen in a movie theater. There's absolutely no suspense or story beats. As soon as the rising action starts, the film abruptly ends 5 seconds later. As a prequel, it merely serves as an extremely mundane trailer for the most increasingly disappointing trilogy of all time.

We'll get it out there right away that it does what it's supposed to do, and that's scare people. I also actually consider it to be a BETTER movie than the second one (despite my ranking the second one an 80 and this a 70). This one's ranking falls down because of the ending. I'm finding it hard (and this is totally on a personal level) to piece the whole story together. Is it a demon, or a witches coven? What about the house fire alluded to in the first movie? A lot seems to be left unanswered.

Having never seen a paranormal activity film before, I wasn't really sure what to expect. Going to see it with my friends at the cinema was actually a really enjoyable experience. Made me jump a few times, and there are even hints of a good story in here, albeit only for the last five minutes or so. Definitely more a money grabbing scheme than a piece of art, but worth seeing at the cinema. The scares are all pretty predictable stuff, but as I said there is almost a good story here... progress!

These movies are getting less effective as they go along. Granted, part of that is simply the premise and aesthetic growing old, but the decay is obvious, and in the moments where this one tries to shake things up (such as the hair-pulling scene) it just goes over the top. The ending comes across as nonsense for the sake of nonsense.

The plot is probably more interesting than either of the other two. The problem is that it's mostly old-hat; there's not anything new in the way of scares. (Though, the oscillating fan-cam is pretty great - I wish they'd done more with it.) Still, I get a kick out of these.
