Summary: As French bomber crews prepare an air raid from a base in England, we learn the story of Matrac, a French journalist who opposed the Munich Pact. Layered flashbacks were well-handled, but with every other aspect just mediocre, it comes out being little more than patriotic.

bogey, who's featured on the cover has minimal screen time, and the only other name i actually care about in this one (lorre) is also underutilized. it's attempt to weave together multiple story lines turns out flimsy, making this seem more like an anthology, but none of the components are sub par so that makes this one a pretty good movie.

As awesome as Casablanca is, this propaganda-themed adventure has James Wong Howe as DP. Amazing on every visual level. The story isn't exactly up to this excellence, but that's to be expected of flag-waving stuff. I happen to think the flashbacks are the best part.

Good cast but the film is bogged down and at some points confusing thanks to flashbacks within flashbacks and flashbacks within other character's narratives.

Good WW2 adventure story with the same director as and a large percentage of the cast from _Casablanca_. Pleasantly weird to be seeing Peter Lorre and Claude Rains as good guys
