Godard draws some parallels between love and work, comments on the plight of workers and makes an 8 1/2 type of self-referential film. However, for every scene that raises your interest, there's another one to chase it away. It's a relentlessly messy work. A lot of this shit is really irritating or really dull, even when it does make sense. Also, it's perfectly fine to make a movie without a story, but when you're constantly telling the audience there's no story you're just a pompous asshole.

Somewhat intriguing in it's impenetrability but it's so dull I doubt I'd watch it again. Ultimately unsatisfying.

"More incoherent ramblings, this time on the themes of work, film-making, the passionate search for something to love and how this relates to real life and fake art... Pretentious, mostly explorative, and aimless."

It isn't just the flexibility of a beautiful brunette that's validated in Jean-Luc Godard's Passion but that of the director himself. In many ways Godard's most accessible film, it still defies categorisation in its consideration of the process of filmmaking and the life that both surrounds and informs it. Simultaneously enthralling and confounding, it sweeps one up in its aura of artfully composed emotion and intrigue. Passion is cracked but magnetic.

A complete mess of a film. The acting is good but the film is so disjointed, the story so meandering and the direction so mundane that it serves no purpose. I think the film is trying to make some point about people's passion for work for art and for love, but frankly whatever that point was went over my head.
