Summary: Vishnu Narayanan (Jayaram) of the Ponnumadam family gets stuck with a baby elephant left to him by his recently demised long-lost uncle. However, when the elephant wins a race, Vishnu gets a chance to get Kalyani (Mohini), heiress of the Thirumangalam family, as his bride. When Vishnu learns that the person to whom some temple jewels which he had stolen & pawned with, was Kalyani's debilitated father, he decides to stay on at Thirumangalam to revive Kalyani's father, to get the jewels back.
