If it seemed like Argento had a thing for putting sex and gore into his films with his first MoH episode, this confirms it on a whole other level.

If "erotic" means "strip tease at a seedy bar and then some 30-second sloppy sex with Meat Loaf" then this was the most erotic display since the Almighty fixed his sights on Sodom and Gomorrah.

I actually read the short story, it sucked. The uh.. film? episode? is definitely much more entertaining. Argento gets pretty dang slick here, which is when he's at his best anyway, and Meat Loaf's scenery chewing kept it over the top and had me hooked. A rare not-embarrassing entry in Dario's late canon, definitely makes up for his first MoH episode which was horrible and a low point of the otherwise excellent first season. Not at all great, this one, but it works.

The "plot" is really just a thin excuse to string a couple of gruesome gore (and some sex) scenes together. Meat Loaf is good though and the gore is positively disgustng and over the top, the way I like it.

Pelts is probably one of the better MOH episodes simply because it feels like it was made explicitly for the hour-long format whereas other episodes definitely feel like they needed more time to be really good. Simply put, it works.

An insane, brutal parody on a body-fixated society (besides being an obvious critique of fur clothing). Unpredictable and savage, and pretty good.

Okay, I'm sorry. I don't think I "get" Dario Argento. The directing doesn't seem really that much better than 70s horror and the practical effects are almost ludicrously bad. The acting is stupid, the plot is dumb, and I was really put off with how poor it all came together. Sheesh. The biggest compliment I can give this piece is that I sat all the way through it.

It's interesting this does makes you think Giallo knowing Argento made it, but it could just as well have been made by an American director. The death scenes are nicely gruesome but increasingly ridiculous (the finale even induced a guffaw). As for the plot, I'm sorry but it does not contain an intelligible satire or critique of any of its themes, it's just lame and redundant like most in its genre.

After their debut in Fight Club, the tits of Meat Loaf were the leading stars of the movie this time.

i gotta give it to argento this time, he made the best movie possible out of the story, it's just that the story, no the whole concept is so terrible. it's got great gore, some cool killing scenes, and if it were not the sheer stupidity of the story i would have loved it.
