The most satisfaction I got from this film was from watching those dumb-asses get eaten by piranhas. The rest is a mess. It did attempt to unabashedly channel some B-movie sensibilities but the terrible major characters and the "not crazy enough" plot prevents it from becoming a guilty pleasure.

I respect that it never tries to act like anything other than a ridiculous gore/boob fest, but it simply isn't a style that I have or will likely ever enjoy.

You can say film art have gona a long way, when you watch a remake of a ripoff. Doesn't share much with Joe Dante's Piranha except, well, piranhas. I wasn't really prepared for this MUCH gore. I'm sorry, but dick scene IS TOO MUCH. Mindless fun without as much fun as there could have been.

A throwback B movie that precisely balances gore, horror tension, and humor. It takes itself just seriously enough to still create some truly scary moments while also injecting some real humor.

A bit like Jaws, only without any of the character development or dramatic tension. OK... not like Jaws. A bit like Girls Gone Wild, only with flesh-eating fish and Doc from Back to the Future. That's more like it. It's really stupid and extremely gory, but I was surprised by how bad the CGI was, considering it makes up a large portion of the film. The underwater scenes in particular look really cheap and crappy. It says a lot that the two best actors in this film are both about 10 years old.

Not that special. Mostly gore and some nudity.

Aja manages to keep a pretty decent level of story and acting, having in mind that this kind of movie attracts its audience with gore and pretty girls. Piranha seems to be a good candidate for having the highest number of casualties in a single scene.

Gloriously goofy exploitation fare. Not as good as the original, but the cast has fun, there's ample sleaze, and the gore comes hard and fast.

So bad it's good =)

Good Movie

A movie fueled by the wet dreams and rage fantasies of a thousand pubescent boys. Perfectly attuned to its audience -- 3D boobs, gore and dodgy science abound.

Horror films aren't horrifying when there's no smart people to empathise with (same goes with thrillers). The film is bland, there was only about 10 minutes of visuals worth watching.

Nothing but senseless, stupid exploitation. It really isn't that funny and the gore is well done yet overtly ridiculous. But there are some sweet, sweet sugar tits and that I cannot fault.

i dont care what anyone says, this movie is exactly what it wants to be and pulls it off perfectly. If you watched it and didnt like it then why did you watch it in the first place? what were you expecting? personally id expect a movie about mutant fish to be a comedy and if it wasnt id expect it to be terrible. Mr. Aja wanted to make a gory comedy with loads of nudity in it so he through mutant fish into spring break, the perfect recipy and then through in some delishis one liners and your gold

Better than I expected, it's a pretty fun movie; and it has a much higher than average amount of female nudity, so it might not be the best movie to watch with your wife or girlfriend.

Gore and good looking unintelligent shallow people. This is nice.

Cracking film. Was a bit dubious before hand knowing it was a low budget affair. Surprisingly fun through out, doesn't take its self too seriously and wins. Jaws references throughout and the make up department must have been on overtime. Can't wait to see the sequal. I suspect this will drag on for a few years yet.

Entertaining film to watch, what's with the longish gratuitous T&A and the over-the-top no holds barred gore and mutilation. CGI piranhas looked so damn fake. There were a few scenes so ridiculously cheesy I was cringing and grinning at the same time. Otherwise, everything is pretty much standard fare (i.e. crap) and none of the characters made any impression on me.

Ving Rhames's unnecessary self sacrifice says it all.
