A major science fiction film in it's time tells a story of astronauts crash landing to a planet ruled by apes. Charlton Heston is perfectly cast representing a stubborn human male. Includes several memorable lines and of course the famous end scene. Planet of the Apes is basically a long version Twilight Zone story filled with some philosophy and moral speech. Despide been made by a major Hollowood studio the film is relatively small in scope avoiding big expensive scenes.

Movie that is entertaining, enough. Nothing really brilliant here. The special effects nicely bring to life a world where apes rule and humans are treated as slaves. Twist ending that doesn't have the same weight as the original.

If you needed proof that remakes are a waste of time then this is it right here. Takes the original premise and totally rapes it of all interest. Mark Wahlburg is just as bad as he always has been so at least he's consistent. Ill give HBC some slack she made a good ape I suppose. But why was this directed by Tim Burton? It lacks the feel of a Burton film if you ask me. Makes me suspect someone else Directed it. Like a trained Chimp maybe.

Nice visual and makeup/costume but awful movie. Want to know the very first line the apes said? "Take your stinkin' hands off me, you damn dirty human!" Wow, like I was expecting that before I played the movie.
