A study in how to make dangerous, exciting, and CG-free stunts look bland (I am referring to the scene of Chan dangling from a ladder on a helicopter above a city). Lacks the humour and energy Policy Story has. Disappointing.
Some of the voices were a little distracting and I don't know if it was originally in Chinese, but the mouth movements matched up, so whatever. But that's not why I watched it. I watched it for the absolutely kickass action and it did not disappoint. If there is a Chinese version though, I'm sure that one is MUCH MUCH better.
the vehicle-oriented finale foreshadows rumble in the bronx, but it's not quite as good. i'm not sure why jackie didn't direct this one after directing the first two police stories, makes me feel like maybe his heart wasn't entirely in it. that said, there are definitely some good fights and michelle yeoh is a great addition to the franchise.
The premise for the movie isn't very enticing, but the action and fighting scenes most certainly are. I continuously said "oh wow," "shit, that was awesome!" and laughed out loud during a lot of these scenes. The fight choreography and on set special effects are more impressive than what you'll see in almost all big budget Hollywood productions. As expected, Jackie Chan makes the movie super fun and easy to watch, this is definitely something you can watch over and over again whenever.
It seems like this character is starting to wear thin, 'cause there's lots more gunfights and explosions. Michelle Yeoh, however, is a real find and a welcome addition, so this movie is still worth seeing
A triumph of choreography, chock full of creative stunts and outsides chase scenes, even if the fights themselves are no more than decent. And then, at just the right moments, they add in some good humor. What's not to like? Michelle Yeoh is also great, keeping up with a Jackie only slightly past his prime. Overall, this is one of Jackie's very best pictures after the 80s; a very good action film.
I saw the original version, not the one with a US soundtrack (including DEVO's cover of "head like a hole")> THAT'S the version I want to see... Toe knee :-)
