Not Miyasaki's greatest, but not too far off. As you would expect the animation is beautiful, exciting and full of personality. There are some great characters too, and the 1930's setting is just perfect. It may lack the depth of some of Miyazaki's very finest work, but certainly makes up for that with bags of charm.

One of Miyazaki's best - perhaps its the freewheeling sense of adventure to the whole thing, or the romantic flourishes, or more simply that it is one of his funnest and funniest films. The ending is open, though a sly wink or two at the audience would hint otherwise and so our hearts can only imagine the most beautiful and swooningly romantic possibilities. Firo's challenging of Porco's occasionally piggish (sorry!) views about women is perfectly on the money yet never too forcefully handled.

Miyazaki drops a very boring bollock.

Not my favorite Miyazaki film, but still a damned fine movie. The main characters were enjoyable and the overall feel of the movie was dreamy, like I have come to expect from studio Ghibli. Plus, read up on this movie before you watch it! The references to real history make the movie that much more fun to watch.

More affectionate continental throwback from Miyazaki. But I wouldn't watch it again, unlike the similarly light "Kiki's." [dubbed]

I want to live inside Hayao Miyazaki's head. The guy creates such wonderful, bizarre, intriguing fictional worlds. There's no way the audience is supposed to be able to take this strange story seriously, yet here I am, thinking about it quite seriously indeed. This story is actually very clever, and the ending is nothing short of ingenious.

A bit of an uneven flight, wavering between manga-style action and an old pigs sexual fascination with a young girl. Not sure who I'd recommend this for, really. So I won't.

I wasn't as big on this as any other Miyazaki I've seen - it felt more slight, perhaps - but it still has awesome character designs and fun fly-y bits and such.
