Not as good as the original, but an improvement on the second Predator film, as well as the AvP movies. An awesome trailer and good cast led me to believe this movie would be better than it is. Unfortunately, every character has a bit of cliche in them. There is enough suspense to keep you interested, and the action is mindless fun. There was potential for greatness, but all we got was good.
Adrien Brody can't play the tough guy, just deepening your voice doesn't work. I like how they incorporated certain aspects of the other films, but it was still a crap film.
Pianist is back, and he is pissed! What this film shows is that you can have a decent actor, but he can't do no magic with the poorly written character. For a sci-fi action film Predators is great. It's much harder to make a decent action flick that it is to make decent drama. Seeing my PSI I might be alone on this, but I think Antal made one of the better genre flicks of the year. At least I know I enjoyed it a lot.
better than it has a right to be. does the whole '80s-badass-ensemble-cast' thing near perfectly, and there's some really pretty cinematography, although the last half hour or so is WAY too fucking underlit. is it cool if i still call laurence fishburne 'larry?'
What a surprisingly kick ass movie. In fact, I wasn't expecting much, especially since it was done at Troublemaker Studios (not saying Troublemaker sucks, just didn't think they would effectively pull of a Predator flick) and of course this was also after the blunders of AVP. Much to my delight, this movie blew me away. It just starts out so intense, a man wakes up in free fall in an alien sky, an alarm sounds, a parachute deploys way too close and then he hits ground and BOOM, "Predators".
Better than Predator 2. I think this movie is a much better follow up to the original Predator than any of the other sequels/hybrids. It has its moments, but maybe had one too many winking homages to the first movie.
Terrible, the shout-outs to the original feel insulting because the movie embodies so little of the original's spirit. The plot is clichéd and uninspired. In this post-modern age a movie sticking to such tight genre limitations needs a certain self-consciousness to succeed. This however is a mid-80s action plot with all the humour removed and replaced with bad CGI. Top this off with the horrible miscasting and one is left with a movie no fan of the original should ever have to see.
It's got all the ingredients of an '80s explosions 'n' muscles throwback, but like every other '80s explosions 'n' muscles throwback of recent years, the result ends up churning out a dark, gloopy, overly-serious dumbo action bore that has no idea of how ridiculous and unrealistic it is. And this has to be the worst ensemble cast in quite some time; I don't think Adrien Brody will ever be this terrible again, he's about as hard as fairy floss.
Enjoyable enough predator romp that builds up tension well and features surprisingly decent performances from most of the cast - in particular Brody as the tough-guy lead. Everything feels a lot more like the first Predator, but perhaps that's the problem: if it's not going to surpass the 1987 original was there really any point in it being made at all? At least it's a damn sight better than the godawful Alien vs Predator released a few years back.
Surprisingly I bought Brody as a badass. Too bad everything was so derivative of the original, a clear fiscally planned reaction against the disasters of the AVP films. The premise is more or less wasted after the first twenty minutes.
Por incrível que pareça, este filme faz uma breve relação com o Predador original (1987). Lógico que se baseia em mostrar tiros, explosões e partes decepadas. Pra que gosta de se distrair de vez em quando com filmes deste, vai se divertir
