I wouldn't say "Priest" is completely terrible, but it really isn't too far off! It wastes its potentially fun concept at every turn, and the script reaches the standards of the spectacularly idiotic. Most other aspects of this movie are simply irritatingly below standard; ranging from the slightly crappy CGI, the boring action and basic design and sets. Karl Urban makes for a good villian though.

It certainly has an ambitious futuristic horror-western setting. That doesn't save it from being poorly executed ass. This suffers from cheesy dialog syndrome and a lot the action is sub-par even when compared to other films in the genre like Underworld. There's one scene where the priest hops on big rocks thrown by another to stab a giant vampire dog in the chest. That's the sort of obligatory CGI nonsense here. The "priests" can perform floaty levitation tricks too.

Barely makes above 50 based on the imagery alone. I like Paul Bettany, but this film sucks. Action scenes were meh, the ending fight sequences were totally bullshit, and there is a total lack of plot. Not to mention that if you're a fan of the source material, that being the graphic novel of the same name, you're in for a huge surprise when you realize that there ARE NO FUCKING SIMILARITIES!

This is a decent Action/Horror that has some pros, but at the end of the day it lacked a few major qualities that made films similar to it like Underworld more successful and entertaining. I found the characters a little weak, and the Action was slow until the final few scenes. It also has a rather short running time under 80 minutes so you finally feel like the film takes off, and it ends. Overall there's enough here to enjoy it, but it could have been a lot better for such a promising premise.

While not the Vampire mythos I prefer, it manages to be an interesting newish take while addressing some of the old issues of vampirism. This movie is a coalescence of an authoritarian faith based culture and it's opposition to an instinctual and greedy one (the vampires). The priests find themselves attempting to fight the very things the faith institutions claim to combat, yet still being opposed be the institutions themselves.

Not really sure why they even bothered getting the rights to adapt the comic, because it's so far from the original source. The comic is probably my fave comic of all time, this ends up being a pretty good vampire movie with some cool action scenes. I don't get the hate, because it's really not that bad. It's fun, it has an interesting look and while the script (and some other things) could have used some work, I had a good time.

Not as terrible as people are insinuating with their rankings here... It's a bad film, but it will never bore you. The acting is bad, but the cast will never annoy you. I particularly liked to see Mädchen Amick again after all these years. Ridiculous, but undeniably completely passable entertainment which is focused and short enough to not get on your nerves before it's over. In short, it doesn't overstay its welcome, which is rare with this kind of film, so kudos.

It was a fun adaptation, some of the scenes looked like they were taken directly from the comic (I haven't read it, but it fits the comic book/graphic novel style). The acting wasn't stellar but ultimately didn't detract from my viewing pleasure.

After hearing so many negative things about this movie, I decided to watch it anyway... and.. it really wasn't half bad! I would even go as far to compare this movie with the Blade trilogy! Ofcourse, the script is aweful, but the acting is pretty good (I'm a fan of Paul Bettany) and the story is also cool. Down with the Haters, this movie was worth the watch!

An insult towards cinemagoers all around the world and this should have gone straight to DVD/BR. Priest begins with a cool animated opening scene but quickly turns into the special olympics in bad acting with Cam Gigandet taking home the gold medal! I have a soft spot for Karl Urban so I'll leave him out of the equation but Priest gets all its points for its cheesy one liners and all the uninted laughs I had watching it. There where many!

Visually very impressive with some very good action and interesting world of humans and vampires. Unfortunately there is hardly any exposition and the whole film feels extremely rushed. All the characters are one dimensional. Other than the lead, the whole cast stinks. Worth seeing for a couple of the action scenes but that's all.

ok so after centuries of fighting vampires with firearms and high volumes of manpower mankind finally develops the secret weapon to killing vampires...knives, yeah right. logic problems aside, it's got some pretty decent action and is visually a good movie. it's a good popcorn flick and fairly enjoyable at that, also i'm a sucker for bettany and urban.

Lame. Resoundingly hokey, gratingly derivative, and not even very visually distinguished. Bettany's a solid action star, but the film around him's pure straight-to-video, C-movie sludge. Unmemorable in the extreme.

Considering the source material they had to pull from, this should have been much better. They did a great job creating the atmosphere, and it was decently shot with a good score. But holy crap, the dialogue... It's like they wanted every single line to be a memorable intense quote, but after the first fifteen minutes it's jut painful to listen to. Even with a quality cast, the acting just couldn't be good with the terrible lines they had to read. Karl Urban was still fun, at least.

30 Points for the awesome animated opening scene. The movie itself: crap. It's a pity.
