This is Pirates of the Caribbean meets The Scorpion King. The movie isn't anything that pushes new ground, where cinema is concerned, but it has the right flow to make it a mindless, fun adventure. The story is cliche and the story is predictable, but I still enjoyed it non the less. This is nothing like the video games, but it does take a neat spin of the idea of a time traveling dagger.

Pretty much what you could/should expect from the Bruckheimer/Disney-label it wears; Decent fantasy rump with great visual effect and so very little else (except for the most Caucasian-looking Persians I've ever seen)

Well, Jake Gyllenhaal is too cute to be an action hero. He's believable enough as bored thirty-something department store employee Jennifer Aniston's teenaged lover in The Good Girl. Not as much as the lead in a big-budget summer blockbuster. Other than that, it's just more hyperkinetic fast-food filmmaking in the Michael Bay tradition. I had no idea what was going on, but I won't deny feeling something visceral.

Look, you don't go into a film like Prince of Persia and expect great depth. That's just not how it is, and if that's what you do, you need to realize that a film like this isn't going to bring you that. Instead, you get fun action sequences held together by a barely relevant plot, with characters that have no real personality other than to accomplish their main task. That's fine, but adjust expectations accordingly when considering watching this film. Once it's over, you'll forget it exists.

A very predictable plot and some nice scenes make it quite acceptable to watch when sitting in a plane, like I did. No problem catching up after a bathroom visit. But don't expect much more of it. Poor dialogues, no character developments and quite a lot historical errors and impossibilities. (For examples, see the goofs area on IMDB.)

It's not awful. The plot is ridiculous, which wouldn't be an awful thing if the crux of the movie didn't make it so any dire situation could be taken back with the push of a button. The action scenes can be cool, but are too often laced with a bunch of lame free running stuff. As a video game adaptation it's good, but there aren't many other ones that aren't blatantly awful. Ending is pretty terrible and leaves a bad taste in what is by all accounts a mediocre movie.

It took me about a week and a half to finally watch the full movie. When I finally got to the end of the movie, I wondered how many people made the obvious joke about wishing they could rewind time to prevent themselves from watching this OK movie. Reading the other reviews, I can't find many. Good job, everyone. Also, they might as well ended this with "AND IT WAS ALL A DREAM."

Classic example of an entertaining big budget film with little to no substance. At the very least, the movie feels somewhat like Prince of Persia without the gameplay. Which, for the record, was the best thing about the franchise. The story and ending is too predictable for it's own good, as in the execution in no way makes up for it. Jake Gyllenhaal and Alfred Molina save the movie, though, making an otherwise soulless action film worth sitting through. Don't go in expecting substance, though.

Well Gyllenhaal looks the opposite of Persian, and the sort of British accent he was using didn't help, but I must admit it was cool overall. Molina was definitely the best part. Also, the score sounded a lot like Pirates of the Caribbean... weapons of mass destruction.
