Shearer and Montgomery have chemistry, but their performances are much too stagy and exaggerated for the movies--and this is, after all, the movies. They project a certain brittle elegance, but lack the true sophistication that this the play demands. Besides, this is a very British play, and I don't really think it works--or could work--with a couple of Americans.

Shearer and Montgomery deliver a captivating performance, and the electricity between them is intoxicating.
