Feminism circa 1950: Women of the future will obtain high ranks only so they have enough power to force lower ranking men to marry them. The fate of the nation is in their hands! This naive '1950's will last forever into the future paradigm' doesn't help this film become charming like some others of the era and instead it's dull to the point of irritation. [MST3k is starting to get into the groove now with this one although the skits still need a lot more work.]

A woman pilot has the exact same name the apes gave Heston in Planet of the Apes. That basically sums up the film's gender politics. The upside down scenes in the station are sorta cool but that's basically it in this. Among the worst of its kind.

Heinlein?! lol I'd never realized that he'd had a lobotomy. This thing is (maybe) a half-step above a serial. Martell is pretty cute (and certainly built), but not even the presence of Dr Bellows can salvage this mess. At least there is a bit of amusement to be found in the tai chi high-G fight sequence and Rorke's less-than-glib exposition on...well, whatever the hell he was talking about. Oh yeah, and you could do better special effects with an Etch-a-Sketch.

A non event of a movie despite the female president (controversial!) ordering our main players to get married ... sheesh. MST3K score: 63

At the very least, you have to give this movie credit for its early example of feminism: Yes, they actually entrust a female colonel to "man" the ship! Of course, the general first has to threaten "bright eyes" (this is what they call her) that he would bend her over his knee and spank her if she doesn't. When she tells him she would scream if he tries it, he informs her that the room is soundproof.
