Summary: Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega are two hitmen who are out to retrieve a suitcase stolen from their employer, mob boss Marsellus Wallace. Wallace has also asked Vincent to take his wife Mia out a few days later when Wallace himself will be out of town. Butch Coolidge is an aging boxer paid by Wallace to lose his next fight. The lives of these and other characters prove to be woven together in ways none of them could ever fully understand.
Tarantino's only decent work. Watch this, and you'll get an idea of what all his movies are like--preachy soliloquies drawing heavily from outdated pop culture, retro grooviness in the form of afros and gas-guzzlers, tough, bitch-slappy women who don't take shit, and a soundtrack that is obscure for the sake of obscurity. It is quite the romp, but once the honeymoon's over, only then do you realize you've just married a fat simian who eats pork rinds for brunch and wears a wife-beater to church.
Tarantino's gallery of junkies, gangsters and other unpleasant underworld characters who is done up as "cool" while mostly discussing nothing. Like a teenage kid who wants to be one of the gang, Tarantino creates that gang in a safe environment and pretends. It's well made and inventive, it's just the kind of movie that is kinda creepy when you scratch the surface of cool jokes and funny hair. But then again, I'm not a fan of the genre.
A fun, fun movie. Is there anything more for me to say? This movie is a movie that's not really meant to be taken seriously. Just look at the title! Great fun, with some very memorable performances.
