Svankmajer's usual visual decdaence is very enjoyable and imaginative here. That guinea pig is very cute too.

A lot of shaking and ultra-quick cuts occur in the first and last two minutes, which is painful to follow with the eyes, and probably gave some poor Czech kids seizures. The music is equally grating. In the six minutes in-between, we get a story of hand puppets killing one another to own a beautiful guinea pig. It's alright, but with surrealism for its own sake, as much of it is going to miss as connect. Svankmajer is talented, but this short is mediocre and hurt my goddamn eyes.

The world here is composed of several planes -- reality, puppetry, art and photography, and animation. It's clever and funny and sports a masterful marriage of sound and image.
