I appreciate the very first part, the most western-alike one. That's maybe just 10 minutes, and that even make me thought "probably is not that bad as I thought it would be". But sadly, after that it started to decay, and specially since the flashback to Puss childhood it's all lost the rest of the movie. Just a not that good adventure movie, not specially good as a comedy, too childish, boring, but of course, having great CG graphics.

Disappointing. Galifianakis cannot save the abysmal character that is Humpty Dumpty, and the plot unspools like a checklist of unaware action movie cliches. Most damning, few laughs were had.

Banderas is exceptionally charming, the script knows when to exploit its western tropes and when to subvert them, and the animation (and associated action sequences) are slick and extremely enjoyable. Adding in the fact that it really is far, far funnier than it has any right to be, and Puss in Boots is the best thing to come out of the Shrek franchise -- or quite possibly any five-part franchise -- in years.

Waaaaaaaaaay better than the last two Shrek movies were. Entertaining enough, straight fairy tale heist movie really. Still not as good as the first two Shrek's. Let's just hope that Dreamworks realises the universe isn't a golden goose and stops laying film after film before they all go rotten.

I feel like we're at a point in this movement where there's a real streak of laziness in relation to integrating adult humor into the work; more and more the films play out like charts of mathematically calculated demographic appeasement. This also has to be the first time I've actually noticed a failure to emulate proper perspective in an animated film. Still, I have to give the movie credit for making me laugh really hard at one gag in particular, which ain't easy to make me do.

I loved all the Shrek films so there was no denying that I was going to enjoy Puss in Boots as well, and I certainly did. It's a great film for the kids, and the big kids at heart like me. We are introduced to new characters like Kitty & Humpty, as well as villains Jack & Jill (and derp goose lol). There is enough action & adventure to keep audiences entertained and interested plus it's very funny also. Not as good as most of the Shrek films I will admit but as a stand-alone film it does the job

I think I probably liked it better than Shrek Forever After (2010) and maybe Shrek the Third (2007) too. The film really kinda felt like they just remade Desperado (1995) but replaced Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek’s characters with cats. Not so much in the plot, of course, but just in some of the feel of the film. It had a few cute, funny moments. I was also impressed with the animation - particularly how they managed to convey human expressions. Nice enough film, but ultimately forgettable.

A few flares of interesting visual techniques and flawless animation can not save a stale story with recycled jokes and a phoned-in ending. Puss's back-story provides for some intrigue and extra-cute moments of him as a kitten, but the writers abandoned the swash-buckling heroics for a silly adventure with Humpty Dumpty that seems to be designed with a theme park ride in mind. Random music and dance numbers add nothing and the dialogue is ridiculously lazy. Totally fails to reach its potential.

Once removed from an already quirky series, this one feels extra offbeat with its vaguely Spanish/Mexican setting mixed with fairy tale characters and giant geese. I enjoyed it for its weirdness, but the plot is somewhat forgettable. There are some funny character moments, though Humpty is a pretty terrible character without any redeeming qualities, as much as they try to force it.

It's no real surprise that by far the best movie of the Shrek franchise is also the first not to have the irritating, poorly voiced green fuckwit in it! 'Puss in Boots' sags a bit in the middle, but genuinely has some great laughs, particuarly in its first & last quarters. The animation & voice acting is all good also, with the script sitting somewhere between DreamWorks at their terrible condescending worst and their recent much improved best efforts of the last couple of years. Enjoyable.

I don't even know why I watched this. I dislike vast majority of Hollywood animations and there wasn't anything promising about this one. No surprises. Flat story, dumb jokes that aren't funny, most of the film is just computer generated images images jumping, exploding and chasing each other. What's up with all the sex stuff, kids watch this for fucks sake. Pointless waste of time.

Antonio Banderas and Zach Galifanakis deliver as two intriguing characters leading the audience through a world of fairytale farce and whimsical absurdity. The absurdity, unfortunately, takes an astonishing nose dive at the so-obvious-a-six-year-old-could-spot plot twist that even the writers realized inferior by their attempt to mock it as its revealed.

As someone who doesn't particularly like the Shrek series, it gets a welcome shift in focus with Puss in Boots, which makes for a surprisingly good DreamWorks movie. Puss in Boots is the best character from the Shrek series, and putting him in as the main character makes for a funny, charming animated movie that's worth seeing.

Pretty disappointing - as could be expected as the Shrek franchise is much like a squeezed-out lemon. I had a few laughs, but the story was terrible, the 3D-stuff lacking and there were no moments at all where I marvelled at anything - be it animations, humour or plot twists. The only exception - as, again, could be expected - were the excellent animations of cats.

It slightly resembles spaghetti westerns and maybe, just maybe, some moves from Robert Rodriguez's latin thrillers, but Miller prefers the DreamWorks' silly way to tell the story with more gags than his characters can handle, chaotic musical numbers -- this is what ruined the Shrek franchise -- and a fantasy that sparkles in visuals and action sequences, but delivers uninteresting treasures.

Nice animation for a character that was strong enough to make a spin-off for. Too bad they didn't know what they were doing. They made the story as kiddie as possible while including the adult "jokes" which were Pepe Le Pew styles of sexual humor (except the lady cats were into it). It wasn't terrible but I often felt bored, which is bad for a 90 minute movie. Kid's may enjoy it, but it's not better than the many other animated films that you could watch instead.

It's DreamWorks, which means it's pretty conventional and uninspired. More plotty than funny, and it re-uses (or apes) a bunch of business from more successful fare from earlier this year, like "Rango" and the fourth "Pirates" movie. My kids thought it was okay; I thought it was labored, passive, and cliched. Not that great-looking, either.
