Bad acting, worse music, plot barely makes sense... basically an excuse for Townsend and Aaliyah to prance around looking pretty, which isn't, you know, the worst movie concept ever, but certainly not a good one.

While I absolutely love the effects and the style of filming, this movie has just a little too much cheese. I don't feel that this should be characterized as a horror. Sci-fi, sure. Fantasy- ok. But their is nothing truly "scary" to be seen. On the flip side, the effects are just enough to add a little intrigue without being overbearing or farfetched. Their is also a clear dual story line that doesn't seem too ridiculous to be interceding.

Mediocre. If it wasn't for Aaliyah, it would have been forgotten

This movie is my guilty pleasure. Basically terrible and nothing like the novel, but Townsend is atractive and the music is fitting.

anne rice hated this movie. she told me at a book signing. it's that bad.

I don't think its another lousy vampire movie, they perfectly followed the real fiction vampire characters, and Aaliyah's character was perfect as one of the 3rd generation vampire class.. Though the movie & story & ending & fiction was bad, can't say you would enjoy to watch, unless you have some huge interest in vampire classes..

It was too much like softcore porn for me to really like it, but it was kind of okay in graphics/makeup/costumes. Then again, I'm not really into vampire stuff much.

An impressive Horror flick thanks to the outstanding performance of Aaliyah as Queen Akasha, and it's such a shame we lost her shortly after the film because she would have made a great actress. The film itself is probably just OK with too much focus on rock music more than vampires and Horror, but it has it moments here and there. Props to Stuart Townsend who played Lestat very well.

A pretty shitty adaptation of what I consider Anne Rice's final book. Not to mention they skipped a book. You can't go from Tom Cruise to Stuart Townsend without some sort of explanation. And eight years is a long time to wait between films. Not to mention all the minor characters from the novel which were of some import that they just conveniently left out or otherwise failed to explain. Man... Not that I'm a huge fan of Rice, but I did enjoy the first film.

Enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously. The soundtrack is out of this world.

Underrated movie. tribute to Aaliyah.
