One of the more "esoteric" David Lynch films aside from Eraserhead. This is Lynch experimenting with mood, lighting, and sound again building up a surreal world where you're not exactly sure what's happening. It's hinted that the rabbits are lab experiments but that's about it. There is almost a trance like quality to their daily life and their musing about who they are. It's like the Far Side combined with a bad drug trip. Not everyone's cup of tea but fun to watch.

Frightening. The characters seem to be trapped inside a time bubble, condemned to go through their monotonous lives forever. the mindfuck moments aren't as scary as the laugh tracks and sparse, disjointed dialogue. It hardly means anything outside its own context, which could be considered a flaw and a strength at the same time.

I like the idea and the strange music and ambient sounds like trains in the distance or whatever, but as it seems to be an exercise in absurd monotony it... er, well, succeeds at that. It's really not that long, so if you aren't so ADD-addled that you're not offended by several minutes of boredom or bewilderment, you might like this, too.

Never has a movie made me so angry. It felt as if my mind was being raped by an overweight panda whose breath reeked of eucalyptus and Chinese deer penis. I kept looking over my shoulder, expecting to be accosted by a cadre of espresso-sipping, croissant-nibbling beatniks snapping their weather-worn fingers in time after every line. Shame on you Criticker for recommending this to me--ME who gave Total Recall a 100.

This mini-series works better as snippets within Inland Empire. On its own, it starts out creepy and unusual, but soon grows tedious as you wait for the monotony to be broken up with the occasional curveball. There are probably mysteries to be explored here, but unlike most Lynch films, I feel no desire to pursue them.

In all honesty, not that gripping on its own. It's still a fascinating idea, but there's only so long you can watch it for. It's fifty thousand times better when moved into the context of Inland Empire.

Everything in Rabbits feels like Lynch...every cut every sound every moment. Rabbits has an undescribable threateningly atmosphere that goes deep. If you like lynch you will love those short Movies that fits perfectly in Inland Empire as short snippets. (The indirect lighting is the same as in most Lynch movies like lost highway or mulholand drive for example )
