Wow, this is wonderful! Who would've thought that a short film taking place in a moonlit fairytale forest with mimes hopping about to doo-wop rhythm 'n' blues and gamelan music would be so lovely? When Pierrot passed through the curtain into the tinsel-strewn branches I felt very moved for some reason.
Don't bother with the 7 minute version; the music's fun but the film loses all of its charm and magic.

Looks gorgeous, great music choice. Its intent escapes me, but it's full of charm and feeling.

17-min version. I see all kinds of seeds of Lynch, Jodorowsky, and Maddin, here, but no ultimate goal or aim. The music (juxtaposing Indonesian traditionalist chant - or Kecak - and early American doo-wap) is the true pleasure.

Fireworks was what I was afraid Anger would be like, but this is an unexpected surprise. A very lovely and poignant commedia del'arte, done in beautiful blue tinge and accompanied by appropriate doo-wop songs. The repeated triple zoom-cut of the moon was really enchanting. Its influence resonates in the work of Lynch and Maddin (and is perhaps itself more than a little influenced by Cocteau).

The first 5-7 minutes are longer than needed, but once the Harlequin appears the pace picks up and it becomes much more engaging. Not the best avante garde film ever, but it's hard to do much with this concept beyond what Anger accomplished here.

The music didn't always really gel with the visuals and it started off slow, but it was fun to watch and very visually imaginative.

Ever since I watched this film that "Things That Go Bump in the Night" song periodically pops into my head and gets stuck there. "Things that go bump in the night/Give me a terrible frii-ii-ii-ii-ii-iight." I've also seen the original version with the more jazzy (and, arguably, more fitting) soundtrack, and it's striking how much the music changes the experience. Soundtrack aside, the film has interesting visuals, and I'm sure you can even glean some meaning from them if you care to.

I don't really remember which version I saw, but was still very entertaining. Great use of music.
