Haven't seen this in years, but some of the imagery from it sticks in my head very vividly. I have no idea why!? From what I remember its not a great movie, but has some nice shots.

The US has built a super powerful laser defense system that can only be powered by a rare mineral that only exists on the Titanic. So, after locating the ship, rather than excavate the remains and remove the vault, they decide to float it instead. Wait, there's more. Our hero is named Dirk Pitt, a dim-witted turtleneck-wearin' snarky bastard of a troubleshooter who, after shooting a dog and a Russian in the first five minutes, seems more than qualified to helm this project. Huh?

The first unfortunate attempt at adapting one of Clive Cussler's novels to the big screen. Any fan of the books won't recognize the story in this film as everything about it is changed and hacked to pieces. It's no wonder it took almost 25 years for Cussler to trust Hollywood with another of his books.

Having read the book, I was really looking forward to this, but it turned out to be an unmitigated disaster
