Summary: When Balakrishnan (Saikumar) finds that the job for which he came to the city for, has gone to Rani (Rekha), he decides to fight & stays on in the city as a paying guest with Mannar Mathai (Innocent), a failed drama troupe owner. Gopalakrishnan (Mukesh) is his other paying guest, who dislikes Balakrishnan. When they get a wrong number call from Ramji Rao (Vijayaraghavan), who has kidnapped the daughter of Urumees Thampan (Devan), a rich businessman, Gopalakrishnan hatches a daring plan. (by iceblox)

A classic, portraying the troubles of the common man, and the lengths to which he is forced to go, to overcome them. Innocent's character 'Mannar Mathai' is the reservoir of humor here, stealing the show away from Mukesh and the then-newcomer (and much thinner) Saikumar.
