Summary: An OVA based on the Read or Die manga series created by Hideyuki Kurata. Yomiko goes into debt to buy a rare copy of a book called "die Unsterbliche Liebe" or "Immortal Beloved," only to be attacked by a super-human-like clone of Jean Henri Fabre. Various superpowered clones or I-Jin of famous historical figures try to steal her book throughout the OVA (imdb)
A mix of both good and bad. I loved the premise, with its historical figures and the agents traveling around the world. Hated the idiotic parody of the US and its president, which wasn't even relevant to the film's plot. The main character Yomiko is drab and dull, and "Agent Deep" only marginally better. The beginning portion of the OVA, introducing the plot, could have been cut down considerably without losing anything. Still, most of the battles are fun, and the ending appropriate.
Saw this over a year ago (from this mini-review's post) and enjoyed it much more than the T.V. show. Paper used as a weapon, neat idea, and some nice animation as well.
