Daringly different from the first. Lacks any lastingly haunting scene like the swim in the first film (the doubled swim in this is an interesting but less effective continuation), or the post-surgery face in the third, but it's a satisfying and smart little film. The training sequence is particularly horrifying, and really hammers home the cruelty of the human world in these films.

Craptastic horror flick only really notable for an uncredited Clint Eastwood appearance.

Overall - a poor sequel. More than anything it reminded me of King Kong. The beast is captured, then it gets lonely and falls in love with chick in bikini, escapes and causes TERROR!!!. Production values seems considerably lower than in original film. Creature music cue really got on my nerves.

Arnold's follow-up to his classic _Creature from the Black Lagoon_ isn't as imaginative but has lots of action (apart from a dull middle section), some surprisingly potent violence, and a scary pre-_Psycho_ motel shower scene.

Takes away a lot of the mystique and atmosphere by transplanting the Gill Man to an aquarium. By scientifically poking and prodding him they take away the menace. Also he's been trained to "stop" so the body count is low even for the 50's. Production also neglected to take the same care as the first so it comes off much more as a z-grade movie for Universal. The third entry is much better.
