An excellent take on the mafia movie, in which an outcast mobster must protect his son whilst on the run from Jude Law's excellent realization of 'the photographer' an elite assassin sent to kill them both. The film is slow at times, and the dialogue can be sparse, but an excellent score from Thomas Newman, as well as some truly great scenes (especially the climatic ending) make this a good film to see.

Long pauses, people standing still, walking slowly etc permeate a film with a good plot. Editing out 20 minutes of these would have made a nice, tight film.

It's no Lone Wolf & Cub.

Conrad L. Hall paints a bleak and beautiful picture in a gripping father/son mob movie. The acting is superb from all lead players and the story engages the audience on multiple levels.

Another incredible movie from sam mendes. he takes some pretty dark subject matter and turns it into an absolutely beautiful movie. it's beautifully shot and explores the bonds between fathers and sons really well. the music in it is also remarkable as are all of the performances.
