The first 3/4ths of the movie are a bunch of motivational speeches. It's honestly pretty ridiculous. The cinematography is surprisingly good and the movie itself is OK but the script could've seriously used some cleaning up. To be fair this is my first Rocky movie and I should've started with the first but still, this movie's way too preachy.

A fitting farewell by Sly to his favorite creation. We've seen it all before, but this sequel comes the closest to recapturing the underdog/feel good vibe of the original. Although at times sentimental, the solid performance by Stallone lifts this film above the declining quality of most of the follow-ups in the series.

Better than expected. The old Rocky is a charming character and has some nice lines which make you smile. Then there's the music, so this won't disappoint Rocky fans.

Nice to see Rocky again, he's a likeable protagonist, but.....

The getting there's what hobbles Stallone's Balboa. With the too-simple build-up ushered out the way in favour of the final fight, however, the film becomes what its "underdog story" predecessors -- for their respective positives and negatives -- never were: that is, a true event movie. The storytelling's straightforwardly predictable but the atmosphere evokes the feel, spirit and energy of boxing. Centred around an ever-endearing protagonist, Rocky Balboa makes for a memorable curtain call.

"All this junk and tissue. Sometimes I feel like a Kangaroo all this stuff in my pocket you know." Stallone could barely mumble through this shitty dialogue. It's not good because it was better than Rocky V, it was still shit. Rocky was inspirational, Rocky VI was an embarrassment.
